2018 OBON FESTIVAL
Gathering of Joy

The culmination of nearly a week long preparation, took place on June 23, 2018, at West Covina Buddhist Temple. Obon, “A Gathering of Joy”, is what was experienced on June 23, 2018. As I had the opportunity to walk around during the Obon festivities, I was overjoyed to see the Sangha, families, friends, and visitors smiling and enjoying the various activities and services provided. Watching people interacting and having a wonderful time, made the efforts of our Sangha, families, and friends who assisted with West Covina Buddhist Temple’s 50th annual Obon celebration, so meaningful and gratifying. I even had the chance to visit with friends that I haven’t seen in a very long time.
A great big ARIGATOGOZAIMASHITA to the West Covina Buddhist Temple’s Sangha, families, and friends that volunteered their time and efforts in making our 2018 Obon a great success. This event would not have been as well received without your help. Without a doubt, 2018 Obon ran more smoothly and calmly because of everyone’s hard work and unconditional efforts. I can hardly wait until next year!
